Taking its design cues from modern London townhouses, this Melbourne residence exudes style and elegance providing a comfortable and long-lasting scheme that is timeless. The commission was to completely overhaul the interior and exterior, particularly making the already superb proportions work for family life and to create more light throughout.

The concept was to create a city pad inspired by a typical-look London terrace. The exterior paint colour was freshened from ayellow-beige to a crisp warm-white juxtaposed with black window frames and door.

The interiors were fully renovated from a new staircase, a reworked layout to improve flow and function to creating more light throughout all the spaces. In the basement, we erected a new stud wall to delineate the garage from the rest of the house. We converted the three-car spot garage into two spots and a new and compact yet valuable office was created. Nestling the office next to the existing theatre, we embraced the moody environment with charcoal walls and ceiling together with a custom-designed tartan carpet.

A new open-plan kitchen/dining/living area was created on the ground floor. Existing powder room was relocated to the first floor to create a newly glazed wine room. New floor to ceiling steel-framed glazing windows and arched double-door at the rear for more light and a transparent view to the lush garden.

The master suite is a serene and stylish space, with beautiful new glazed steel doors leading to the WIR, a stunning larger ensuite and new dressing area space with window seat enjoying delightful vistas across the treetops.
