A timber flooring showroom in an existing warehouse exuding both a relaxed and understated luxury. The space allows customers to make informed choices within a beautifully curated environment - see, touch and experience, whilst being inspired by a space they can visualise for their own home.

The suspended steel planter is the central driving force of the space and became the foundation for the board display, peripherally and on the floor. The planter as the focal point zone the display area and provides a sustainable and organic layer to the space. The main objective of the showroom is to effectively display the timber floor boards utilising horizontal and vertical planes. Dynamic interaction with the product is achieved through design of pivoting display frames juxtaposed with terrazzo stone for added texture and materiality.

This is a unique aspect of the design and born from the development of the classic swivel mirror which is used to display timber pivot screens, creating a repetitious rhythm in the space. Another feature are the concealed magnets to secure the timber boards in the steel display frames, allowing the client to update the timber boards as required.

Another detail in this showroom is the employment of the timber battens as internal and exterior cladding, creating minimalist pods in the voluminous industrial space which conceal amenities, back of house and services while maintaining the aesthetic to showcase the client’s product.

A strong emphasis was placed on the design of name plaques, branding names, signage, display of the boards and sample boxes as they became an integral component of the design process.

The aim was to create a clean functional layout that embraced a holistic approach and attention to detail.  The versatility and multiple functions of the space; the minimal execution of materiality and timeless elements; all result in a simply resolved ambient showroom.
